Thunder Hawks travel to Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd Invitational
The Montevideo boys and girls Cross Country teams traveled to the Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson- Boyd Invitational last Thursday. The boys team claimed a third place spot with a team score of 100, while the girls team took the fourth place spot with a team score of 102. Individual Scoring follows: Top Five Boys:

CCM Health Welcomes Ali Peterson, APRN, CNP, CNM
CCM Health is pleased to welcome Ali Peterson, APRN, CNP, CNM to their provider team. Ali attended North Dakota State University, South Dakota State University, and Frontier Nursing University. She is board certified by the Minnesota Board of Nursing, American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board, and American Midwifery Certification Board. Ali specializes in Family Practice and Midwifery Care and will begin seeing patients in September 2022. Growing up, Ali’s mom was a nurse and a loving community caregiver. Ali admired her mother’s ability to connect with people and be a helper. Ali’s parents gave her lots of opportunities to care for people, from volunteering at the Appleton Nursing Home, babysitting neighbor’s children, and waitressing at the Apple Cafe. “Caregiving and service feed my soul and the science and art of nursing has been the best career choice I was lucky to have made early in my life!”

GoFundMe account set up for Montevideo man who passed as a result of collision
Kim Huntley Kane has organized an online GoFundMe page in order to raise funds to cover medical and funeral expenses for Kadin Huntley, who passed away on Monday, August 29th. Kadin’s passing was the result of a car accident that occurred August 28th, in Renville County.

Cooler weather on the way for the weekend
The Labor Day Weekend is behind us now, and things are back to “normal” as the kids headed back to school this week, and for many of us, a more typical routine is with us once again. We had a nice weekend to close out the summer season. Temperatures were very pleasant on Saturday. We had sunshine with highs generally in the lower 70s for much of the state of Minnesota. Temperatures did warm-up a bit on Sunday with highs in the mid to upper 70s.

Friday, September 9th: Band Kindred Spirits is set to take the Shinto Cowboy Stage in Java River’s Courtyard for a free musical performance from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, September 10th: Sam’s Pumpkin Patch, in rural Montevideo, opens for the season with new activities, expanded concessions, and a new entrance for easier pumpkin loading.

Wellbriety group holds event in honor of National Overdose Awareness Week
com Last week, the Montevideo- area Wellbriety group hosted an event at Smith Park in honor of National Overdose Awareness week. The Wellbriety movement is a large movement of peer-led support groups around the United States that work along with a combination of AA and NA traditions and principles combined with a Native spirituality and culture emphasis to provide support for persons in recovery from drugs and alcohol addictions.
