Orvin Haugerud, 80, of Montevideo passed away Sunday, August 21, 2022, at his home at the Clara City Assisted Living. Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at 11 a.m.

Winsel Christiansen was born December 10, 1925, to Septer and Loretta (Brennan) Christiansen in Chippewa County. On September 15, 1944, he was united in marriage to June Syde.

Robert Olson of Montevideo, formerly of Louriston Township, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2022, at Brookside Senior Living in Montevideo at the age of 89. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 8, 2022, at 11 a.m.

Catherine Mary (Beal) Pederson

There will be a memorial service on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at 1:30 p.m. at Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo. A burial ceremony will immediately follow at Sunset Memorial Cemetery. After the burial the family invites you for fellowship and food at Topper’s Warehouse located at 311 State Road in Montevideo. On May 20, 2022, Cathy Pederson peacefully passed away in Lincoln, Neb. after a short illness. She was born on her grandparent’s farm in the Kragero Township of Chippewa County on January 22, 1934. Her parents were Bernie and Elizabeth Beal. She graduated from Montevideo High School in 1951 where she participated in choir and was the secretarytreasurer her sophomore, junior, and senior years. She was the first sophomore elected as the 1948 Monte Day Queen. In 1952, she was honored to be named 1953 Fiesta Days Queen in Montevideo. She was a special guest at the Fiesta Days in Montevideo, Uruguay, where she attended many events like parades, soccer games, and parties during her visit to South America. She said her best memory during this trip was how much love the Uruguayans showed to her. Upon her return she attended St. Cloud Teachers College and graduated from the Minnesota School of Business in 1954. During her school years she worked as a switchboard operator for Northwestern Bell and was a reporter at the Montevideo American-News for the summer. On February 21, 1954, she married Carroll Pederson in a small ceremony in Montevideo and moved to the Minneapolis area. The couple had three children - Larry, Bob, and Mary Kay in this area before Carroll’s work moved them to the states of California, Iowa, and Nebraska. Cathy’s favorite hobby was making quilts. She loved to shop for fabric and had accumulated a large supply of material through the years and also loved to design and sew the quilts. Kadin Huntley

Kadin Huntley of Montevideo passed away on Monday, August 29, 2022, at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale at the age of 19. Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Pastor Marie Eckberg officiated and burial was in Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Visitation was held Friday, September 2, 2022, from 5 - 8 p.m. at Anderson - TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo. Visitation continued one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Kadin Michael Huntley was born December 10, 2002, in Minneapolis to Michael and Tami (Cordingley) Huntley. He was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo and confirmed at Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church in Prior Lake. Kadin attended school in Shakopee up until 9th grade, and then attended and graduated from Montevideo High School in 2021. After high school Kadin attended Southeast Tech in Sioux Falls pursuing a degree in law enforcement. He was currently working at US Auto Force in Sioux Falls working in M2 receiving. Kadin was a true wild spirit. He will be remembered most for his strong will, and fierce love for his family and friends. Kadin was extremely dedicated to his faith, both in his religion and the people he surrounded himself with. He always put others first, uplifted and inspired anyone that talked to him. Everyone who had the honor of knowing Kadin was always welcomed close and treated as a brother or sister. Kadin was also best known for his contagious wide smile and laughter. He always knew just what joke was going to gain the hardest laugh, and always had just the right amount of sarcasm. His strong willingness didn’t always garner good things, as it made for a pretty stubborn personality. When he made up his mind about something, there simply was no changing it. It was his way, or the highway, and although he was stubborn and maybe a little too sarcastic at times, he never missed an event. Whether it was a sports game or a bonfire
