Small game license sales remain below 10-year average
The number of small game hunters in Minnesota continues to decline along a longterm trendline. The number of small game licenses sold in 2021 was 233,901, down 4% from the previous year and 7% below the 10year average.

Prairie Five CAC brings additional preschool opportunities to low-income families
Every three years, Prairie Five Community Action Council (CAC) conducts a community assessment survey. The data collected in the most recent survey showed that there was a need for childcare in the area.

Glen hosts Wedding Extravaganza
It isn’t every day that a couple celebrates their anniverary after their platinum year, but Copper Glen has two of them. Alvina and Don Van Gorp celebrated their 72nd Anniversary on August 19th and Milton and Eileen Hoidal celebrated their 73rd Anniversary on September 25th of this year.

MVCCA announces concert
Minnesota Valley Community Concert Association presents pianist David Osborne at United Methodist Church in Montevideo Friday, November 18 at 7:00 p.m. Known as the “Pianist to the Presidents,” David Osborne’s career highlights are many.

A Life in Art on display featuring the work of Franz Albert Richter
Franz Albert Richter is a renowned local artist who has recently celebrated his 80th birthday. He is also the current artist on exhibit at the Madison Mercantile located in Madison, Minnesota as well as the recent subject of a documentary celebrating his life and art. According to Pioneer PBS, Richter “has long been considered one of the most influential artists and historians of the Upper Minnesota River Valley region. He grew up on a farm south of Clarkfield and after graduating from Clarkfield High school (Class of 1960) he moved to the Twin Cities to pursue further education. There he met and collaborated with the likes of Garrison Keillor, Robert Bly and Architect Dennis Grebner. After a stint as a Freedom Rider in the civil rights movement in the south and a visit to San Francisco for the “Summer of Love” in 1967, Richter returned to his home farm to pursue “a life in art.”

“Angst” documentary aired locally in effort to raise awareness around anxiety
On Wednesday, November 9th, the Montevideo Millenium Theater aired a screening of the independent documentary “Angst”. The event was hosted by teh Upper Minnesota River Valley Suicide Prevention Coalition, sponsored by Crow Wing Energized, BlueCross BlueShield of Minnesota, Arlene Selander Coaching and Consulting, the US Department of Veterans Affairs, and the Jackson Roder Foundation.

Accumulating snow possible this week
Chief Meteorologist Kool-TV Last week parts of Minnesota and much of North Dakota and South Dakota saw some snow, ice, and strong winds from the first winter storm of the season. Over 20 inches of snow were reported across parts of North Dakota.
