New sensory room completed at Montevideo Middle School

MnDOT conducting aerial photography work in Southwest Minnesota
Minnesota Department of Transportation The Minnesota Department of Transportation will conduct aerial mapping of several locations in southwest Minnesota this spring. The mapping will create a record of existing infrastructure and landscape along, and adjacent to, MnDOT right of way for transportation planning and highway design. This work will be conducted after the snow has melted and before trees leaf out.
YMC Board hears report from Project Turnabout at regular meeting
com At Tuesday morning’s meeting of the Yellow Medicine County Board of Commissioners, Project Turnabout CEO Marti Paulson was on hand to provide a presentation on Project Turnabout’s operations and facilities. Paulson, who took over as the CEO of the organization in fall of 2020.
Stream trout fishing opens statewide April 15
Minnesota’s popular stream trout season opens Saturday, April 15 with quality fishing opportunities in every region of the state. Brook trout and splake fishing also open April 15 on Lake Superior and its tributary streams.
MnDOT launches first multimodal trip planner to focus on rural transportation services
When a person wants to take a trip across the country, they can choose from a variety of travel planning apps to help make that happen. But what if the trip they want to take is from Mankato to New Ulm, or within their own community, using non-personal transportation? The Minnesota Department of Transportation has launched a pilot project to bring trip planning and payment technology for daily trips in areas less dense than in an urban setting.
SBA deadline approaching for loans for Minnesota small businesses affected by 2022 drought
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is reminding small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture, and most private nonprofit organizations that May 9 is the filing deadline for federal working capital loans in Minnesota due to drought that began July 19, 2022.

Montevideo Community Center to hold open house
There are plenty of programs and activities to take part in at the Montevideo Community Center. From line dancing and dominoes to trips and photo scanning, there is something for everyone. Having had an overall attendance of more than 15,000 last year, the Center serves as a meeting point for recreation and rental events. Members will have an open house on Wednesday, April 19th at 9:00am. Free coffee and rolls will be served. The Community Center members will have a brief talk about the recreation programs they offer and the health benefits of participating in them.
New payment options available at state parks, recreation areas, forest campgrounds
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is modernizing payment options in state parks, recreation areas and forest campgrounds by discontinuing the use of on-site self-payment collection boxes and expanding electronic payment options. This includes deploying an app for mobile devices called Yodel.
