CCM Health donates $13,000 to local organizations through its Community Investment Program

In early 2023, CCM Health announced that its Community Investment Program (CIP) was continuing and that it was proud to be a contributing member in the communities it serves. Between January 1- March 1, 2023, CCM Health’s CIP received more than $32,000 in grant and donation requests. After close review and discussion, CCM Health approved more than $13,000 in donations to go to many of the organizations that sent in requests.

MMS March students of the month

Montevideo Middle School March Students of the Month are: Levi Enevoldsen, Asher Christensen, Hayden Eisenlohr, Ashleigh Roelike, Kayla Haug, Henry Godfrey, Carson Haas, Jayla Kinman, Madison McDonald, Brissia Mejia Sosa, Anya Burmeister.

Correction

In last week’s edition of the Montevideo-American News, the School Board article stated that the next meeting of the Montevideo School Board will be April 24th. The next regularly scheduled meeting is actually Monday, May 8th at 6 p.m.

Burger King in Montevideo closes

Montevideo’s Burger King location - a franchise owned by Meridian Restaurants, has permanently closed after Meridian Restaurants declared bankruptcy in March. The location was one of 28 locations owned by Meridian Restaurants that closed, although the company owns a total of 119 restaurants in total. Other area closures include the locations in Willmar, Alexandria, Long Prairie, and Redwood Falls.

Suspect in last week’s police standoff charged

In the late afternoon hours of April 10th, a force of officers from the Cooperative Enforcement Effort (CEE) VI Drug and Gang Task Force, along with officers from the Granite Falls Police Department, Upper Sioux Community Police Department and Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office arrived at a home on the 1100 block of Bergeson Drive in Granite Falls to serve a felony warrant.

In the last two weeks, a number of discussions in public meetings had to do with the potential transfer of land from the State of Minnesota to the Upper Sioux Community. Specifically the land at Upper Sioux State Park. While this is an opinion column, I am not here to express my own opinion on the topic. However, what I am here to express is the handling of how some of the discussion on the topic went - specifically in two different ways.
