Prairie Five discusses location option at council meeting

At Monday evening’s meeting of the Montevideo City Council, Ted Nelson, the Associate Director of Prairie Five Community Action Council was in attendance to provide information on the efforts made by the organization recently to look into potential new locations.Currently, Prairie Five is located inside of the Chippewa County Family Services building, and operates the food shelf from the location, as well as the Meals on Wheels program, preparing meals in the kitchen for delivery to the five counties they service.

Prescribed burns planned for southwest Minnesota

Motorists traveling through southwest Minnesota during the next few weeks may experience smoky conditions while MnDOT crews are conducting prescribed burns, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.Prescribed burns are weather dependent and difficult to plan more than a few days in advance.

Wiebe receives rural leaders grant

The Niman Ranch Next Generation Foundation, the philanthropic arm of sustainable and humane meat pioneer Niman Ranch, awarded nearly $250,000 in scholarships and grants to young farmers and future rural leaders.
