Montevideo swim team hosts swim-a-thon
Last week, the Montevideo Boys Varsity Swim and Dive team hosted a fundraising swim-a-thon, bringing in over $4,300 in donations. The funds will be used to help pay for kickboards, fins, pull-buoys, caps, suits and other team expenses. Each swimmer pledged to swim for one hour with a maximum of 80 laps or 400 yards. Those donating could choose to pledge the boys per lap or with a standard donation.

At Monday evening’s meeting of the Montevideo City Council, Marvin Garbe was in attendance to provide the council with an update on the Montevideo Veterans Home. “Seventeen years ago this February 26th was the first time we went down to the capital and testified for the Veterans home,” said Garbe. “There were 17 that went down. Ten have died since then. So it took us twelve years to get state approval, two years to get federal approval and two years to get it constructed.”
