At Countryside Public Health, we work every day to protect and promote the health of our communities. One important way we do this is by monitoring disease trends across our state and communities, offering education, and providing resources that help people prevent and manage health conditions. One of the most common and serious health concerns we track in our country is High blood pressure, or hypertension — but the good news is, it’s also one of the most manageable with the right information and support!

Much like the weather on the day I’m writing this – gorgeous sun, new buds, and a chance of a tornado -- spring often brings out the unsettled side of Minnesotans. After a long winter, people spot fresh daffodils and get crazed.

Ask a Trooper: Flashing Yellow Arrow…

Question: In one day, Monday I had three incidents where cars did not yield right of way when they had a flashing left turn arrow. I have observed several other incidents involving other drives as well. It seems of late people seem to think the flashing arrow gives them the right of way.

Montevideo Fire Chief presents annual report to council

Montevideo Fire Chief Allen Jacobson delivered the Montevideo Fire Department’s 2024 annual report to the City Council at last week’s meeting, highlighting a busy year of emergency responses, training and community engagement.

Fundraising event planned for Let’s Go Fishing program

On Friday, May 9th, the Tri-County Fishing Club is hosting a spaghetti dinner fundraiser for the Let’s Go Fishing program. The event will be held at the American Legion in Montevideo from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Montevideo musicians play in Honor Band Concert

Last weekend, these young Montevideo musicians traveled to the 1st and 2nd year Honor Band Concert in Ortonville. A variety of directors and musicians from different schools organized to play a concert together.
