Southeast Technical College congratulates its students completing their AAS, diploma and certificates at the end of the Spring 2025 semester. A commencement ceremony was held May 9 at the Sioux Falls Arena. Area students include:

Civil War Veterans honored in local ceremonies

A Civil War remembrance project that spans the entire state of Minnesota will make several stops in the local area soon, as the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW) prepare to honor the final known Union Veterans buried in Yellow Medicine, Chippewa, Lincoln, and Lyon Counties.

Last week, the first edition under the new format arrived on news stands and in mailboxes. As we work through the process of learning the new ropes, there are still a few things that we’re figuring out. So it may be that for one week, something that regularly is a part of our weekly newspaper won’t necessarily be included, as we become more accustomed to the placement and workings of the new design.

Another beautiful weather week in Wonderful Western Minnesota. A little sun, a little rain, a few clouds and very few bugs. What more could I ask for?

Unseasonably cool on Friday

The smoke from the Canadian wildfires made another appearance around parts of Minnesota on Sunday into Monday. It wasn’t as bad as last Tuesday when some of the worst air quality ever reported was found in Minnesota. At that time, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency said that the air quality in portions of the state was in the very unhealthy to dangerous level.
