$1.35 Million Available for Farm to School in Minnesota
Minnesota schools, early childhood education (ECE) centers, and licensed in-home family child care providers looking to serve locally sourced meals can apply for funding now through the Minnesota Department of Agriculture’s (MDA) Farm to School and Early Care Grant and Local Tots Cost-Share programs. The grant and cost-share program both offer reimbursement for local food purchases of Minnesota grown and raised foods.

Week three in my August series of The Continuum of Creation: Faith and the Land, again helps us to see how creation is ongoing. This week the main topic is not just creation, but re-creation and transformation. The Apostle Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” This amazing “new creation” comes through our faith in Christ. And faith isn’t a one-time thing, but a process that continues over our entire life growing and evolving.

Some people spend their day off curled up with a book, maybe catching up on sleep, maybe enjoying brunch with a friend. I, on the other hand, recently decided my one solitary day of freedom would be the time to conquer every project around the house I’ve been ignoring, basically since I moved in a year ago.
Montevideo School Board hears administrator updates on upcoming school year
At last week’s meeting of the Montevideo School Board, the board received updates from district administrators covering preparations for the 20025-26 school year, summer programming and new initiatives across schools.
Council renews joint powers agreement with state
At the August 4th meeting of the Montevideo City Council, the council approved a resolution to allow Chippewa County to retain voter operations funding totalling $1,229.98 from Montevideo precincts. City Manager Robert Wolfington explained that the county handles election equipment maintenance, which the funds are intended for.

For some people, August is not a month. For some people, August is a waiting room. There’s just not a lot of professional sports on television. Basketball’s on summer vacation. Hockey’s long gone. And football doesn’t start until September.
Memory Care Corner: Same, but different…

There’s a Chinese/Vietnamese restaurant that we like to eat at in Woodbury. The owner, Duc (pronounced Duke), and his wife run the restaurant and all of the food they serve is delicious. They are proud to say that everything is freshly made – and no canned sauces! Even Duc himself waits on tables and likes to interact with the customers. He also enjoys giving people a hard time.

Ms. Torvik joins the law office with years of experience across many areas of law having practiced most recently in the Twin Cities. Montevideo Legion Baseball teams compete at state

Both Montevideo teams Junior and Senior Legion Baseball teams made it to state this year. Senior Legion sponsored by the American Legion of Montevideo, traveled to Ely August 30th- 2nd and took 2nd place. Junior legion is sponsored by the Vfw post 380 Montevideo and traveled to Hayfield August 7th – 10th and also took 2nd place.
Cory Tammen Wins Late Model Feature at Fiesta City Speedway
A total of eighty-three cars were at Fiesta City Speedway on Friday night, which included a visit by the Crown Vic class to the speedway.
