Council reverses decision, grants 2 a.m. bar closing permit with conditions

At the August 4th meeting of the Montevideo City Council, one of the topics of discussion was consideration of a request to renew the 2 a.m. liquor license for Inn Like Flinn’s, the only establishment in the City that currently operates under extended hours. Concerns were raised about late-night incidents. A suggestion was made to require Inn Like Flinns to install a security camera if the permit were to be renewed, but the motion on the table at that point in the meeting was for outright denial. The council voted 3-2 to deny the renewal of the 2 a.m. closure, setting Flinn’s closing time at 1 a.m.

Milwaukee Road Heritage Center receives donation

Dan Westby of the Twin Cities and Western Railroad is shown presenting an $800 donation from the railroad to Dick Ryman and Max Hinde of the Milwaukee Road Heritage Center in Montevideo. The railroad selects worthy organizations to support during the yearly visit by the North American Rail Car Operators Association who rode over the track on August 17th. This illustrates how partnerships like these strengthen the ties between the railroad and the communities it serves.

This month invites us to pause, reflect, and invest in ourselves.
