For some people, August is not a month. For some people, August is a waiting room. There’s just not a lot of professional sports on television. Basketball’s on summer vacation. Hockey’s long gone. And football doesn’t start until September.

Memory Care Corner: Same, but different…

There’s a Chinese/Vietnamese restaurant that we like to eat at in Woodbury. The owner, Duc (pronounced Duke), and his wife run the restaurant and all of the food they serve is delicious. They are proud to say that everything is freshly made – and no canned sauces! Even Duc himself waits on tables and likes to interact with the customers. He also enjoys giving people a hard time.

Ms. Torvik joins the law office with years of experience across many areas of law having practiced most recently in the Twin Cities. Some people spend their day off curled up with a book, maybe catching up on sleep, maybe enjoying brunch with a friend. I, on the other hand, recently decided my one solitary day of freedom would be the time to conquer every project around the house I’ve been ignoring, basically since I moved in a year ago.

Montevideo Legion Baseball teams compete at state

Both Montevideo teams Junior and Senior Legion Baseball teams made it to state this year. Senior Legion sponsored by the American Legion of Montevideo, traveled to Ely August 30th- 2nd and took 2nd place. Junior legion is sponsored by the Vfw post 380 Montevideo and traveled to Hayfield August 7th – 10th and also took 2nd place.

YME Bond referendum passes

Yellow Medicine East Public Schools will see big changes in the coming years, most notably investments in student safety and security, updated facilities, and expanded classroom space, thanks to approval of a bond referendum on August 12, 2025.
