Commissioners continue to look into bank property for new Human Services location At Tuesday morning’s meeting of the Chippewa County Commissioners, a representative from Klein McCarthy Architects was on hand to give a presentation on the Family Services Facility Plan. The County Commissioners have been investigating the idea of purchasing the former Minnwest Bank building downtown to house Family Services, and potentially Prairie Five due to the state of the current location, and the cost of maintaining that location.
Grant received to help fund creation of three daycare pods
Grant received to help fund creation of three daycare pods At Monday evening’s meeting of the Montevideo City Council, the council approved a resolution accepting a $30,000 Rural Community Child Care Grant. City Community Development Coordinator Jack Gottfried has applied for the grant from First Children’s Finance in order to help fund a project with two new childcare pod models to be built.

Montevideo baseball defeats Benson
Last Wednesday, the Montevideo Thunder Hawks boys varsity baseball team took on Benson for a 12-6 victory in a West Central Conference away game. Leaders in the game included Brady Snell who struck out five, walking one, allowing one hit, one run.

Scouting the Thunder Hawks
Montevideo’s baseball team is off to an impressive start, at 9-1, and “many guys are stepping up both offensively and defensively,” Thunder Hawks coach Tim Epema said earlier this week, as his club prepared for games against powerhouses Melrose, MACRAY and Atwater-Cosmos- Grove City.
