THURSDAY Softball -- at Yellow Medicine East, 4:30 p.m. The Thunder Hawks defeated Minnewaska 18-7 in the nightcap of a home doubleheader, after losing the opener 8-7.

Dianne White (nee Hansen) was born on September 1, 1946, in Granite Falls to Ernest Hansen and Anne (Klein) Hansen, the 5th of eight children born to this union. On April 15, 2022, Dianne was welcomed into God’s hands.

June 18, 1926 - May 9, 2023 Eileen Kohlman, 96, of Appleton passed away Tuesday morning, May 9, 2023, in Appleton Area Health-Care Center. Visitation will be 5 - 7 p.m., followed by a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Auditions open for The Phantom Tollbooth

Open auditions for the Lac qui Parle Players production of The Phantom Tollbooth will be held Tuesday, May 23rd from 6:30-9:30 pm at the newly- renovated Prairie Arts Center, or by appointment with director Heidi Felton.

When you bang up your knee so it swells up like an elephant’s and it brings tears to your eyes to take a step, the orthopedic guy gives you a knee brace to wear requiring four straps to be wrapped tight around the leg and hooked and held tight by Velcro strips, a piece of equipment that I, a professional humorist with less mechanical ability than the average primate, need to remove every night when I go to bed and reattach in the morning. My wife could do this in a jiffy but I made her go to Minnesota to play the opera (she’s a violist) because I love her and because I don’t want her to see me as a pitiful helpless wretch.

Montevideo Prom 2023 held with “Roaring 20s” theme

On Saturday, a crowd gathered outside of the Montevideo High School to watch the traditional drive-up portion of the MHS Prom. Some raindrops didn’t stop the festivities as prom goers arrived with umbrellas.

Thunder Hawk boys defeat Minnewaska, BOLD

Last Tuesday afternoon, the Thunder Hawks boys varsity baseball team played a double-header against Minnewaska at home. In Game one, Montevideo took the win 8-4.
