Kevin Saue passed away suddenly on December 14, 2022, at his home in Kamuela, Hawaii. Kevin and his wife Wilsa lived in Hawaii for 32 years.

Arnold C. Johnson “Arn” passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023, at the age of 87 at his home in Montevideo with his wife Bonne, son Paul, and daughter Kristi by his side.

Curtis Lund Tjosaas of Montevideo died on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at CCM Health in Montevideo at the age of 86. Funeral services were held on Sunday, May 7, 2023, at 2 p.m.

PATRICIA (HERMANSON) BONEBRAKE

Patricia “Patty” L. (Hermanson) Bonebrake passed away on Friday, May 5, 2023, in Fergus Falls at the age of 78. Patty was born on July 6, 1944. She was the eldest daughter of Helmer “Hermie” J. and Lila J. Hermanson. After graduating from Fergus Falls High School in 1962, Patty attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D. She returned to Fergus and married Arthur E. Heinz. The couple had two children, Krissa Lyse and Kevin Lyle. On November 16, 1968, she married Larry L. Bonebrake of Little Falls. The couple spent time traveling the United States, settling in Sioux Falls where they raised and educated their children before moving back to Fergus Falls in 1988 where they resided in Patty’s childhood home until purchasing the property on West Birch Avenue. Her early years were spent as a Bluebird in the Camp Fire Girls organization, she was a prominent member of 4-H and strongly believed in her community.

June 2, 1960 - April 28, 2023 Steve Boraas, 62, of Appleton passed away Friday, April 28, 2023, in Appleton Area Health-Hospital. Visitation was 1 - 2 p.m., followed by the memorial service at 2 p.m.

Cynthia “Cindy” Anderson of Montevideo died Monday, May 1, 2023, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis at the age of 73. Funeral services were held on Friday, May 5, 2023, at 10 a.m.

PAUL EMIL BOETTCHER

(1933-2023) Paul Emil Boettcher was born in Montevideo and died in Hudson, Wis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolphine Weckwerth Boettcher and Paul August Boettcher; sister and brother-in-law, Gertrude Ehlers (Robert); brother and sister-in-law, Harlan Boettcher (Marjorie); and wife, Barbara Farber Boettcher.

30th annual Relay for Life to be held June 9

The 30th Annual Relay for Life Event will be held in Smith Park in Montevideo on Friday, June 9 from 5-11 pm. The Opening Ceremony and Survivor Walk will take place at 6:15 p.m. Caregiver Walk will be at approximately 8:10 (before luminary lighting). Copper Street Brass is a Minneapolis-based sextet composed of two trumpets, trombone, tuba, French horn and percussion with several members doubling on keyboard, percussion, guitars and electric instruments.

Vendors prepare to bring new goods to the 11th annual Milwaukee Road Heritage Center festival

Milwaukee Road Heritage Center is preparing to host its 11th annual craft, vendor and collectibles sale as a part of the annual Montevideo Fiesta Days activities. This year’s sale will be held on Saturday, June 17th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. In addition to the arts and crafts, there will be a model railroad exhibit on display, and the railroad museum and rail cars will be open for self-guided tours throughout the day as well. From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., there will be a trackless train ride.
