
Derek DuHoux Memorial Ride rolls through Montevideo
On Saturday Sept. 13, the Montevideo American Legion Post 59 played host to over 270 participants in the Derek DuHoux Memorial Ride. Derek was an Army Apache Helicopter pilot that died last year in a tragic spray cropping accident near Clara City.

Fall officially arrives Monday
Some record or near record high temperatures were found on Sunday across Minnesota. Many spots hit the low 90s.

From the Editor’s Desk
I usually don’t title my columns each week, but if I were to, this one would be titled “Small town spirit: from column to real life”. A couple of weeks ago, I sat down at my kitchen table which often serves as my desk because I have first of all, a nice view, and second of all, plenty of natural light there, and wrote one of those “isn’t small town life the best” kinds of columns. I noted at that time that one of the best things about small towns is how people step up for their community members when its needed. Well, the universe must have decided I needed a little live action view of exactly what I wrote about because last week, my house became Exhibit A.

Memory Care Corner: Delusions vs. Hallucinations …
In my last article, I shared information on delusions. As you may recall, we learned that a delusion is a firmly held belief in something that is not real. Delusions can occur in the middle-to-late stages of Alzheimer’s. Examples of delusions could include a person with Alzheimer’s believing that a family member is stealing his or her possessions - or that their spouse is cheating on them.
