City adjusts ordinance to be less restrictive for mobile food trucks/vendors
At last week’s regular meeting of the Montevideo City Council, one of the topics of discussion was the introduction of an ordinance to adjust the wording of the City’s mobile food truck ordinance.

School board sets May date for referendum vote
During Monday evening’s meeting of the Montevideo School Board, a resolution was passed relating to the issuance of school bonds and calling for a special election. The election giving taxpayers in the district the opportunity to vote on a referendum to make improvements to the district’s facilities, including the construction of a new high school, will be held May 9th.

Library to undergo renovation in children’s section
The Montevideo Public Library’s children’s section will be undergoing a renovation between now and June. Larissa Schwenk, the head librarian, shared that she’s hoping to have it completed by the time the summer reading program begins in June.

Thunder Hawk girls defeat Morris/CA, West Central
Last Tuesday, the Thunder Hawks girls varsity basketball team took on Morris/Chokio-Alberta in Morris for a 75-49 victory. Leaders in the game included Avery Koenen scoring 27 points with 14 rebounds, three steals, while Tenley Epema scored 16 points with five assists. Teagan Epema added another 12 points with eight assists, three steals to the team total.

ETTIE GOEMAN
Ettie passed away from pancreatic and liver cancer on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at home with her family, sisters and niece from Holland by her side. A celebration of Ettie’s life was held on Monday, February 13, 2023, at Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City. It was a Monday on 10/27/1951 when Ettie Patronella Boonstra was born to Hendrik and Patronella (Nellie) Boonstra in Leewarden Holland. She was the youngest of five siblings. The family moved to Purmerend, Holland, just North of Amsterdam. That is where Ettie attended Christian school where her father, Hendrik, was principal.
