Beyond Reason

Before I start, I want to clarify that I have no interest in royals. I do not read about royals in the newspapers or books. I do not watch shows or movies on royals. I do not believe there should even be royals. But other earthlings can’t get enough of the royals so “journalists” churn story after story out on the topic. But where does it start/end? This column is a royal summary, written by someone who has gleaned everything he knows about the topic from headlines.

Date Nut Creams 1 and 1/2 cups flour 1/3 cup shortening 1 cup packed brown sugar 2 eggs 1 cup dairy sour cream 1/4 cup water 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 cup diced dates 1/2 cup chopped nuts.

WRAP receives donation of 10,000 pairs of Bombas Socks

WoMen’s Rural Advocacy Programs, Inc. (WRAP) is excited to announce that we have received 10,000 pairs of Bombas socks! WRAP is very grateful to have received this donation from Bombas! With this donation, we will be able to not only provide our clients with socks but others in the community that are in need as well. WRAP will be dispersing some of these socks to various community organizations such as food shelves, other domestic abuse and sexual assault advocacy centers, homeless shelters, and rehabilitation centers within our area.

Thunder Hawks look ahead to New London game

Montevideo was scheduled to play host to Minnewaska on Tuesday, before traveling to play Benson on Friday and returning home to face New London-Spicer on Monday at 7:15 p.m. Last week, the Thunder Hawks defeated visiting Yellow Medicine East 71-35 on Tuesday and lost at West Central 55-46.

Blood drive brings in 54 units

The American Red Cross blood drive was held at the TACC in Montevideo on January 19, 2023. The American Red Cross received 54 units of whole blood units. There were six walk-ins and three deferred donors. Scott Haugen and Jodi Janke were first time donors. This event was sponsored by Kuhlmann Realty.

55+ driver discount program offered

The Minnesota Highway Safety Center will be offering 55+ Driver Discount Courses on the following days: -February 16th: 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Granite Falls Senior Center. Course #52104 -February 22nd: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Montevideo Community Center. Course #52059.

Minnesota Veterans Homes receive $80,000 donation from Hutchinson VFW

The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA) was honored to receive a very generous donation of $80,000 from the Department of Minnesota Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Charles McLaughlin Post 906 in Hutchinson, MN. This donation was specifically directed to each individual State Veterans Home, which will receive $10,000 per location.
