When my kids were young, they were fortunate enough to have their own personal Santa. Back then, Lee Eiler, of Wood Lake was well into his years of being Santa Claus at all of the local events, and he enlisted me to help with some of those.

Just for Kix winter show fills the MMS gymnasium
A large crowd gathered to watch all of the performers in the 2022 Just for Kix Winter Show held at Montevideo Middle School Sunday afternoon. The “Just Kickin’ with my Gnomies” holiday-themed show featured performances by all of the dance groups in the Just for Kix program, from the Wee Hip Hop performers to the High Schol competitive team.

Thunder Hawks games postponed last week
Legendary Montevideo boys basketball coach Derek Webb is eager to see how his young and ultra- talented team performs in an underdog role against 3AA powerhouses Pipestone Area (3-0) and Jackson County Central (2-1) in Marshall Holiday Tournament games at Southwest Minnesota State University on Dec. 30-31.

Shourds appointed to school board
At last week’s regular meeting of the Montevideo School Board, Dustin Shourds was appointed to fill the school board vacancy that was created when board member Kelly Snell took the position of Community Education Coordinator within the district. The position was accepted by Snell within a time frame that meant it was too late to take her name off the ballot before elections.

News from Milan
I don’t know how many of you are Viking football fans. I’m not one of them. But the way the Vikings came back to win their game on Saturday was nothing short of sensational. I didn’t even turn it on at home until the overtime. I’m sure Jon taped the whole thing since he had to work today and would miss the game. What a comeback. The last score I saw when I checked on them was 33-7 in favor of the Colts. Good game, Vikes.
