Snow and cold weather on the way

A winter storm moved into Minnesota late Monday into Tuesday. This system brought freezing rain and snow to the state of Minnesota and has caused traveling difficulties. Warnings were posted for most of the state for difficult driving conditions.

Montevideo HS receives LYFT grant

Launch Your Future Today (LYFT) Career Pathways is a rural career and technical education pathway initiative in the 18-county service region of southwest and west central Minnesota, launched in 2018 with a legislative grant secured by the Southwest West Central (SWWC) Service Cooperative and its partners. Since then, LYFT Pathways continues to be supported through a state-wide Rural Career and Technical Education (CTE) Consortium Grant, which was passed by the Minnesota Legislature.

Local couple honors memory of fourlegged family member with fundraiser

Local couple honors memory of fourlegged family member with fundraiser Tanna and Brad Clouse recently began a new venture at the Millennium Popcorn Company’s store to raise funds for the Dawson Veterinary Clinic. The effort was inspired by the bond the couple formed with the entire staff at the clinic during their fourlegged family member’s illness.

McKittrick chosen to be panel member at national conference

In November, Montevideo Schools Superintendent Wade McKittrick was asked to be on a panel of three presenters that spoke at the national conference of the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnership (NACEP). The annual conference is held for professional development for employees of districts that run and coordinate programs for dual credit such as PSEO and College in the Schools.

Thunder Hawk girls defeat Minnewaska, LQPV

Montevideo girls basketball senior center Avery Koenen exploded for 32 points in a pair of impressive victories last week. The North Dakota State University commit led the Thunder Hawks with 14 points in a 52-47 home win at Minnewaska and 18 in a 54-43 victory at Lac Qui Parie Friday.

Franz Allbert Richter, born October 16, 1942, in Seattle, Wash., has long been considered one of the most influential artists and historians of the Upper Minnesota River Valley region. He grew up on a farm south of Clarkfield and after graduating from Clarkfield High school (Class of 1960) he moved to the Twin Cities to pursue further education.
