Dennis Warner and the Ds to perform Dec. 3

Dawson-Boyd Arts Association presents folk/Americana singer and entertainer Dennis Warner with his band, The D’s, at Memorial Auditorium in Dawson on Saturday, December 3 at 7:00pm. Warner blends humor, audience participation and thought-provoking music into a fun, memorable concert for adults and families.

From the Editor’s Desk

Around a month ago, my daughters convinced me that the thing to do was to adopt a puppy from the Hawk Creek Animal Shelter. All of our pets have only ever been rescues, but we have never adopted an actual baby animal. Thus, I underestimated how much effort raising a puppy would entail.

Beyond Reason

While I am quite fond of the Vince Guaraldi, the solo artist and his Trio, there are limits to my affection. I happen to dislike Christmas songs. Yes, each and every one of them. Even the ones by the Vince Guaraldi and his Trio.

Apply by Dec. 7 for DNR grants that help children get outside

Public entities and nonprofit organizations serving people younger than 18 can apply for No Child Left Inside grants through 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 7. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is offering the grants to help more children cast a line, study animal tracks, hike, bike, or simply learn more about nature.

Have you recovered yet from overeating on Thanksgiveus? My answer is maybe. It was tough to move for a few hours after dinner Thursday. I went to dinner at the home of my niece, Jenni. The food was excellent and the company was superb. We waited a few hours before we had pie.
