Community leaders, tourism advocates and cultural-heritage enthusiasts are invited to attend a public presentation unveiling the Yellowstone Trail Cultural Heritage Tourism Master Plan on Thursday, Nov. 17 at the Montevideo Public Library at 2 p.m..
DNR notes regarding deer hunting season
Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Hunters are required to register every deer they harvest before processing, before antlers are removed and within 48 hours after taking the animal. Hunters can register deer online, via phone or in person.
USDA designates nine counties as Natural Disaster Areas, including Yellow Medicine
This Secretarial natural disaster designation allows the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) to extend much-needed emergency credit to producers recovering from natural disasters through emergency loans. Emergency loans can be used to meet various recovery needs including the replacement of essential items such as equipment or livestock, reorganization of a farming operation or the refinance of certain debts. FSA will review the loans based on the extent of losses, security available and repayment ability.
DNR proposes classifying 13 invasive plants, animals are prohibited to protect Minnesota’s resources and economy
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is accepting public comment through Dec. 9 on its proposal to classify 13 high-risk invasive aquatic plants, fish and invertebrates as prohibited. The DNR classifies invasive species as prohibited to prevent their introduction and spread in Minnesota, and to protect the state’s environment, economy, natural resources and outdoor recreation.

Building Bridges Choir to host patriotic performance this weekend
This Sunday at 2 pm, the Building Bridges Choir will be hosting a performance of patriotic and Americana songs at the St. Paul Lutheran Church sanctuary. The concert is free and open to the public, and there will be snacks served afterward.

Woodland Centers honored with Provider of the Year award
NAMI Minnesota (National Alliance on Mental Illness) presented Woodland Centers with the Provider of the Year Award at its annual conference on November 5 at Saint Paul RiverCentre. Provider of the Year recognizes an organization that provides mental health services that demonstrate excellence, respect, and best practices.

Snow potential Thursday into Friday
It was extremely windy on Sunday as we saw gusts in excess of 45 mph at times. This led to a Red Flag Warning being issued for much of the state due to the potential of wildfires.
