
KMGM celebrates 40 year anniversary with community event
KMGM celebrates 40 years in business this year, following behind sister station KDMA that turned 70 last year. The original KMGM station was located in downtown Montevideo where the current Post Office is located. The new station that houses the three radio stations was constructed in 2011.
Thunder Hawks take on Morris/CA in Section 6AAA quarterfinals
The Thunder Hawks varsity football team traveled to Morris to take on Morris/Chokio-Alberta in Section 6AAA quarterfinals action last Tuesday evening. The team took a loss 20-50. Leaders in the game included Jaxon Wagner who scored a rushing touchdown. Thunder Hawks boys basketball team short on experience, strong on young talent
Montevideo’s varsity boys basketball team graduated all five starters and eight players from last year’s 11-12 team, which lost to Jackson County Central 75-67 in a 3AA South quarterfinal. Normally with the entire starting lineup absent, the Thunder Hawks’ upcoming 202223 season would scream ‘rebuilding year’.
Thunder Hawks Cross Country travels to championship
Last week, the Montevideo Boys and Girls Cross Country teams traveled to the Section 3A Championships at Luverne High School. The boys team finished in 9th place with a score of 220.

Robert “Bob” Macziewski
Robert “Bob” Macziewski, 76, of Montevideo passed away on Friday, October 28, 2022, at Clara City Care Center. Memorial Service will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Montevideo on Friday, November 4, 2022. Visitation will be Thursday, November 3, 2022, from 5 7 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m., all at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.


Temporary off-highway vehicle trail closures for deer season begin Nov. 5
Recreational use of off-highway vehicles will be restricted on some state forest trails and access routes during the upcoming firearms deer hunting season, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. Vehicles affected by the restrictions include all-terrain vehicles, off-highway motorcycles and registered off-road vehicles, such as fourwheel drive trucks. At certain times of day (listed below), these restrictions do not apply to vehicles being used by a licensed deer hunter in conjunction with deer hunting.
