Quiet weekend with warmer weather on the way

The state of Minnesota got most of the rain out of the way on Friday just in time for the weekend. Duluth received 1.23 inches of rain for the most rain around the state. Meanwhile, Pierz was close behind with 1.18 inches.

First Congregational Church celebrates 150 years

For the past 150 years, the First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ in Montevideo has sought to serve the spiritual needs of its members and to be a strong and useful church in the Montevideo community.

Minnesota-based mystery author to hold event at Montevideo library

Minnesota-based author William Kent Krueger is scheduled to be at a book signing and discussion at the Montevideo Chippewa County Public Library on Saturday, October 8th. Krueger, an author that focuses on the crime mystery genre, has traveled to the area a number of times for events previously with a group called the Minnesota Crime Waves, albeit years ago.

Montevideo Swim team has two key conference meets coming up

Montevideo girls swimming and diving coach Nick Patton says he couldn’t be prouder or have more confidence in senior captains Taylor Viessman, Marienau Huseby and Grace Pauling. “They’re outstanding leaders, setting a masterful example for our young swimmers, in the pool and out,” Patton said of his prized team leaders.

Montevideo Cross Country teams travel to Lac qui Parle Valley/ Dawson-Boyd Invitational

The Montevideo Boys and Girls Cross Country teams traveled to the Madison Golf Course last Tuesday to take part in the Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson- Boyd Invitational. The boys took home the sixth place spot finishing with a team score of 148. Scoring from that event follows: Individual Top Five (Boys): (15) Brady Andrews, 18:34.54, (26) Carson Lynner, 19:31.89, (29) Blake Andrews, 19:43.36, (38) Nelson Velasquez, 20:16.37, (4) Jose Cardona, 20:25.91.

Lanz to host Halloween themed Drag Show in Montevideo

After the success of Elijah Lanz’s efforts to bring the first drag show ever to Montevideo last spring, Lanz began to plan for a new event right away. Now, Lanz has scheduled a new drag event to happen on October 22nd, with a Halloween theme.
