Robert Holzheimer, 92, of Montevideo passed away at his residence on Saturday, July 16, 2022. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 21 at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Visitation was held on Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Wing-Bain Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to services on Thursday. Burial will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Holloway.

Jason Junior Klemensen, beloved fiance, father, brother, uncle, friend, and shining light to many passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 5, 2022. He is survived by his fiancé, Brandi Peters, her children, Dahlia Beckett, Isabella Peters, and Lylla Peters, his sister Laurie Lyngen, brother Jon Klemensen (Shelly), sister Lisa Klemensen, sister Hope Reyna (fiancé, Ken), nieces Kristi Justin (James), Vanessa Trevino (Miguel), Amanda Klemensen, Fayth Reyna, Charyti Reyna, and nephews Brian Lyngen, Damien Klemensen, BrianTrevino (Courtney), Mason Lyngen, Brandon Klemensen (Shilada), Benjamin Trevino (Sandi), Joshua (Skylar), Prince Mohammed, and several great-nieces and -nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Junior and Linda Klemensen.

Child Care Economic Development Grants Now Open for Applicants
Today, the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) launched the latest round of Child Care Economic Development Grants. These grants authorize $4.85 million over two fiscal years for grants to community partners to increase quality child care providers to support economic development across Minnesota. A total of $2.425 million will be available in this second round of funding; $2.425 million was awarded previously to 14 projects.

Local young fashion designer creates fashion with a focus on formal wear
Sonia Wraase, of Montevideo, is a fashion designer with dresses she creates and drapes until they are perfected. Self-proclaiming that her muse is a little complicated, Wraase has spent years studying closely the female body which she says she finds inspiring. Earth and nature also inspire her curiosities.

Produce makes its way to Farmers Market
Last week’s Montevideo’s Farmer’s Market saw a return of a supply of produce, which has been delayed due to the late planting season, and cold spring this year. Vendor Dean Risa, of Risa Farms in rural Montevideo, was on hand with not only an array of zucchini, summer squash, green peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, potatoes, and lettuce but also fresh flowers.

Ride 2 Remember 5th Annual event August 13th
The 5th annual Ride 2 Remember event is scheduled to be held on Saturday, August 13th, starting in Granite Falls. The event is a continuation of the former KMS Memorial Ride that was held for ten years in memoriam of six local area soldiers that lost their lives while serving the country, including Matt Kahler, of Granite Falls, and Brent Koch of Morton.
Birch Coulee Ranch Rodeo to perform at Chippewa County Fair
One of the acts returning to the Chippewa County Fair this year is the Birch Coulee Ranch Rodeo, traveling to Montevideo from Morton. Tim Hennen, owner of Birch Coulee Arena, says that the show is a ranch rodeo, with cattle events.
