A life-changing introduction

My family and I recently moved to Montevideo from Willmar after I accepted a position on the pastoral staff of Rock Haven Church. Since our move, we’ve been meeting new people almost on a weekly basis. This has reminded me how life-changing one introduction can be.

55+ Driver discount program classes offered

The Minnesota Highway Safety Center will be offering 55+ Driver Discount Courses on the following days: August 16th: Kilowatt Community Center, Four-hour refresher course from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Temperatures expected to be above normal

The heat and scattered showers at times over the past month, have been adequate for most of our sweet corn growers. I spoke to one sweet corn grower, and she said that the corn should be ready for all of us to eat any day! For many of us, this is one of our favorite times of the year when we can enjoy fresh local sweet corn.

Federal Government approves request for Tornado Recovery Assistance

Governor Tim Walz today announced that the President has approved his request for a major disaster declaration for 23 counties impacted by tornadoes, flooding, and storms in early May. “This spring brought unprecedented storms and historic flooding to our state.

Court hearing in former Police Chief’s charges results in additional scheduled hearing

On Monday afternoon, former Upper Sioux police chief Christopher Allen Lee, 53, of Clarkfield, made an appearance in court in what was scheduled to be a Settlement Conference. Lee, who appeared by way of Zoom, appeared at the hearing while driving a motor vehicle, and Judge Laurence Stratton, who discovered Lee was driving while asking Lee to turn on his camera, halted court momentarily to wait for Lee to pull over to attend. It should be noted that in the court rules for Zoom hearings, it states that the attending must not be moving (either driving, walking, bicycling or otherwise).

Montevideo will ride O’Malley again this season

Montevideo fullback-linebacker Francis O’Malley will be asked to carry the Thunder Hawks on his thick shoulders again this fall. The 6-foot-1, 225-pound junior, a generational superstar who has the skillset to also dominate at the college level, is widely considered one of the most punishing rushers and fiercest run stoppers in Minnesota high school football.
