Montevideo Farmer’s Market offers variety of early-season goods

The Farmer’s Market opened in the last week of June for the season in Montevideo. On Thursday, some of the regulars along with some visiting vendors gathered for the market in a different location than it’s normally held due to the storm damage in Smith Park.

Tutors needed for reading, math, early learning in Montevideo

Reading Corps, Math Corps, and Early Learning Corps are working to bring tutors to elementary, and preschool classrooms in Montevideo. “We’ve been in the Montevideo area working with our Early Learning Corp working with Prairie Five’s Headstart organization there for quite a while, but this is the first year that we will be with Ramsey Elementary and the Sanford Education Center with our elementary-school-based program,” says Katelyn Dokken, of the national nonprofit, Ampact.

Mulder has Legion senior baseball team peaking for the playoffs

Ben Mulder says he’s living a dream as head coach of the Montevideo American Legion senior baseball team. “It’s even better than I expected,” Mulder, 22, a former Thunder Hawks standout who’s now in his second season as skipper, said in a phone interview Friday morning from Omaha, Neb., as his 19-and-under team prepared for its third of at least five guaranteed games in the 45-team Battle of Omaha tournament later in the day.
