Jake Smith wins Midwest Modified Special at Fiesta City Speedway
Twenty-four Midwest Modifieds came to Fiesta City Speedway for the 20 lap, $1000 to win feature. Cody Hatch led the entire Pure Stock feature for his third win of the season.
Zebra mussels confirmed in Long Lake in Kandiyohi County
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has confirmed a report of zebra mussels in Long Lake, which is near Willmar in Kandiyohi County. A lake property owner contacted the DNR after his daughter found a zebra mussel attached to a rock while swimming in the lake.
Enevoldsen graduates from University of Minnesota Morris
Kaitlynne Enevoldsen, of Watson, received a bachelor of arts degree in Elementary Education. Unbeaten Legion junior baseball team eyes state tournament run
Montevideo’s American Legion junior baseball team carried a 6-0 record into scheduled games Monday at Redwood Falls and Tuesday at Camby. The Thunder Hawks will continue a fourgame road stint next week with games at Madison and Dawson, before wrapping up regular season play with back-to-back home games against Granite Falls and Sacred Heart.

It’s been a busy week. Aren’t they all? And I’m still reliving all the fun I had at the reunion. On my way home, I spied a turtle in the middle of the highway. I didn’t want it to get run over, so I stopped. There was a big field sprayer coming from the other way, so I watched as he made sure he didn’t hit it. Thanks to whoever you are. Then I got out of the car and ran and picked it up and pitched it across the road into the water. I hope that was the direction he wanted to go. Better the wrong side than smushed.

Live Well, Age Wisely: What’s New For Summer
Cookie salad has become my go-to dish to bring to potlucks or picnics – it seems to be a crowd pleaser, gives me a chance to eat my favorite dessert and the opportunity to share a story about a fiasco I had at a chain restaurant’s salad bar! I was thinking about how what I have to share this week will be a bit like a salad bar, a variety of services and programs and hopefully something that looks good to everyone.

Chippewa County Fair returns July 27th-31st
The Chippewa County Fair is scheduled this year for Wednesday, July 27th through Sunday, July 31st. Merriams Midway Show returns to host the carnival each day. The Texas-based company has been in business for two generations. The carnival opens July 27th at 6 p.m., and opens again Thursday and Friday at 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday hours begin early, opening at 1 p.m.

Local area host families needed for foreign exchange students
Lori Sherod, of Odessa, has been advertising heavily through social media in the local area to find host families for foreign exchange students hoping to come to the United States for the 2022-23 school year through the International Student Exchange (ISE) program.
