Ridgewater College announces spring semester 2022 Dean’s List
Ridgewater College would like to acknowledge those students earning recognition on the Dean’s lists for Fall Semester 2021. In order to be included on the Deans’ list, a student must maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher and be enrolled in at least nine credits and meet certain other criteria.
Take a Kid Fishing Weekend is this Friday through Sunday
During Take a Kid Fishing weekend (Friday, June 10 to Sunday, June 12) Minnesota residents can fish without licenses if they take children 15 or younger along. “Fishing together with kids is a fun way to spend time in the outdoors,” said Benji Kohn, volunteer mentor program coordinator with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.

Hawk Creek Lutheran Church celebrates 150 years
Hawk Creek Lutheran Church of Sacred Heart is celebrating its 150th Anniversary as a Christian congregation on June 12th. Former Pastors will be speaking, a church service will be held at 10:30, with special music from the youth and former members and a luncheon sponsored by the congregation will be served at noon, followed by an afternoon program at 1:30. Montevideo student receives MSU Moorhead scholarship
Katherine Knudson, Montevideo, Minn., has received the Charles Magel Enodowment Fund for $2,200 and the Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences - NS-F SLHA/Collegiate Sertoma Scholarship for $200 from Minnesota State Universiwty Moorhead. First ever ALC Scholarships awarded
2022 was the first year ever that the MN Valley Area Learning Center awarded some of its graduating students’ financial scholarships thanks to various organizations, businesses, and individuals. Four students received a total of $5,150.00 to further their education while helping to diminish the financial impact of post-secondary education. DNR offers tips on how to catch, release fish
Anglers who intend to release any of the fish they catch can boost the chances those fish will survive by following best practices for catch and release. Set the hook quickly to avoid hooking a fish in the stomach or gills.

New to Medicare virtual class to be held
Learning what to do when you become eligible for Medicare can seem overwhelming. This class is for people who will be new to Medicare and would like to learn about Medicare Parts A, B, C and D. Topics will include a comprehensive introduction to Medicare including what Medicare covers, supplemental insurance and Part D prescription coverage. During the class you will learn the Medicare enrollment details, how to get the most from your benefits and how to research your Medicare plan options using the Medicare.gov site.
