Montevideo Golf teams find a clearing in weather for invitationals

The Montevideo Girls Golf team traveled to the Sauk Centre Invitational last week, finishing with an incomplete score. The top scorers for the girls team in the event were: Reagan Diggins in 25th place with a score of 67 and Isabelle Teichert in 31st Place with a score of 75.

Motorcycle and classic car roll-ins planned for summer

The Montevideo American Legion is currently planning a series of motorcycle and classic car roll-ins for this summer, with the idea of providing those riders and drivers with an opportunity to partake in a fun event without having to travel far. The group came up with the idea, as there is a similar event held over an hour away in Wabasso regularly. American Legion member Everett Bain and his wife Cheryl have traveled to Wabasso for a similar event, but noted how dangerous the route can be to drive, especially after dark on a motorcycle.

Former Montevideo resident authors historical fiction book based on Ukraine immigrants

Arlene Ebel Eslinger, who was born and raised in Montevideo, graduating from Montevideo High School has published her first book, “They Refused to Fight”. Eslinger, who now lives in Wisconsin, was motivated to write the historical fiction novel after her uncle wrote a short book for their family based on his time as a child in South Dakota.

A staple of my time in journalism is apparently attending the Minnesota’s Machinery Museum annual meeting. In all of my history in newspapers around the area, the one event that I have attended each year that I was involved in newspapers has been this particular meeting.

Koenen scores at YME track meet

Last Thursday, the Thunder Hawks boys and girls track teams traveled to a multi-school track meet at Yellow Medicine East in Granite Falls. The girls team claimed the 7th place spot with an overall score of 42, while the boys team claimed the second-place spot with an overall score of 95.5.
