Dissell named to Dean’s List at St. Olaf college
The following local students have been named to the St. Olaf College dean's list for the fall 2021 semester. Henry Dissell, Sociology/Anthropology, son of Marc Dissell and Jennifer Briest of Montevideo.

The Gold Dusters move on to the State Competition this weekend at the Target Center in the Twin Cities. MINNESOTA The Gold Dusters Jazz Team took third place in the Sections competition in Montevideo last weekend.
Monte boys swim and dive team compete in 2022 Regional Championships
The Montevideo boys Swim & Dive Team traveled to Sauk Centre for the 2022 Western Regional Championships Friday. The boys team took second place in the event with a final score of 218. Complete results follow:

Team UNITED brings home wins last week
Last Thursday, team UNITED wrestling, comprised of athletes from multiple schools including Montevideo, traveled to Fulda for the Fulda/Murray County Central triangular. Leaders in that meet included Kameron Sather (113 lbs), Daniel Gunlogson (120 lbs), Zander Clausen (126 lbs), Dain Mortenson (160 lbs), Avery Wittnebel (170 lbs) and Brady Rhode (285) who all took a victory in the event. Thunder Hawk boys basketball team defeats St. James 81-52
The Thunder Hawk boys defeated St. James by a whopping 81-52 in a home game last Tuesday evening. Leaders in that game included Andrew VanBinsbergen, who scored 18 points with two steals. Landon Stock added another 11 points to the team total with six rebounds and a block, while Kaiden Boike added 11 points with six rebounds, six assists. Complete scoring from that game follows:

Thunder Hawk girls end week 8-1
Last Tuesday, the Thunder Hawk girls played against longtime rival Sauk Centre for a 43-36 victory. Leaders in the game included Keely Foley, who scored 13 points and three steals. Avery Koenen added another 10 points with four assists, 16 rebounds and a block. Complete scoring from that game follows:
United Way of Southwest Minnesota accepting Community Impact Grant applications

South Dakota State University announces Dean’s List
The following students have been named to the dean's list for academic excellence after the fall 2021 semester at South Dakota State University. To earn dean's list distinctions in SDSU's colleges, students must have completed a minimum of 12 credits and must have earned at least a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Students with an asterisk received a perfect 4.0 GPA.
2021-22 campaign results announced by United Way of Southwest Minnesota
United Way of Southwest Minnesota (UWSWMN) reports a total of $499,000 was raised during the 2021-22 fundraising campaign. A small portion of the funds raised locally will be paid directly to local organizations as designated by the donors. All other funds raised will support programs working to improve the lives of people living in the 35 communities we call home. Because of funds raised in last year’s campaign, 43,000 local people’s lives are being impacted through internal programs, community partner programs and/or other initiatives.
