School board tables talks of grade reconfiguration
A lengthy discussion about options for moving the Thunder Hawks care program into a new space was held at the regular monthly meeting of the Montevideo School Board Monday evening. The move would allow for a recon figuration of the grade structure at Montevideo Schools that has been a topic of discussion among the board and community members at listening sessions for some time.
Team UNITED athletes score in Rumble on the Red tournament
Over the holiday break, Team UNITED wrestling, comprised of athletes from Montevideo, Dawson-Boyd and Lac qui Parle Valley, traveled to participate in the 62-team Rumble in the Red tournament. Wednesday, December 29th, the tournament opened with Team UNITED wrestlers, Daniel Gunlogson (113) and Keaton Haas (220) advancing to the championship semifinals.
Home Plate opens for practice this month

Macziewski, Florence E. age 101 of Excelsior passed away peacefully December 25, 2021. Preceded in death by parents, her husband’s Lyle Knutson and Lorence Macziewski and her son Gail Knutson. Florence worked as an Executive Assistant for many prominent Minneapolis companies including Cargill, General Mills and Super Valu. She attended Gustavus Adolphus and enjoyed playing the piano and ballroom dancing.

Seems like the fanfare of putting up the Christmas tree is a lot more thoughtful than taking it down and getting rid of it. Riding around town it’s not surprising to see a dried-out spruce tree lying in the snow outside the backdoor or in some cases still ablaze with lights through the front window a week or two after the holidays.
