School board hears updates on plans for 2025-26 school year
At Tuesday evening’s meeting of the Montevideo Board of Education, Montevideo High School Principal Tanya Maethner submitted a report to the board, highlighting registration efforts for the next school year. “Registration is a time-consuming and sometimes stressful process, for both students and staff, but it’s also a fun puzzle to put together,” Maethner said. Meetings have been going on throughout the last month with staff, presentations to students in grades 8th-11th, and individual meetings with students during advisory time to work on registrations for the 2025-26 school year.

First Bockfest to happen in Montevideo scheduled for this weekend
Talking Waters Brewing Company recently announced plans to host its first ever Bockfest on Saturday, March 15th. The event came about after the brewery successfully brewed its first ever Bock, named Deep Water. “We thought it would be a good excuse to celebrate the beer and the coming of spring to get people out and about,” they say.
Landscape paintings featured in current exhibit
The current featured artist exhibiting on the walls inside Java River Coffee House is Patrick Spence, of Montevideo, featuring landscape paintings.
