With the warmer weather, the opportunity to get outdoors more often, and enjoy the spaces that surround us has been more frequent. Likewise, the melting of the snow (what little we did have), has also revealed what we haven’t seen in awhile.

So. Did you remember to set your alarm clocks ahead one hour before you went to sleep Saturday night? Or do you have smart clocks that do it for you? I didn’t reset any of my clocks hoping that some of them would reset automatically. I use my phone as my alarm clock and I knew that would change by itself. I am writing this early Sunday morning, so time will tell when some of our congregation comes to church an hour late.

Big fluctuations in temperatures

It was a great weekend and early start to this week! We had record and near record high temperatures on Monday as temps climbed into the 60s and 70s!

Local student named to Dean’s List

The Fall Semester Dean’s List at Gustavus Adolphus College has been released. The list comprises students who have earned a 3.7 grade point average (based on a scale in which 4.0 = A) or higher for the semester ending in May 2024.

Ask a Trooper: Car seat replacement…

Question: My vehicle was recently involved with a crash with another vehicle. I had car seat inside but no child was present at the time of the crash. I am wondering if the car seat would still need to be replaced. My auto insurance company didn’t want to replace it. Is there some state statute on this?

Rainfall monitoring network seeks volunteers

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources’ State Climatology Office is seeking rainfall monitors for the Community Collaborative Rain, Hail and Snow Network. The network includes more than 20,000 volunteers nationwide who measure precipitation in their backyards using a standard 4-inch diameter rain gauge.

What caught my attention most during the Medicare Open Enrollment last fall didn’t have anything to do with insurance coverage options. During the nearly two-month period, I met with hundreds of people and almost all expressed concerns or anxiety about the current state of affairs, the direction in which the country was headed, and what the future might hold. It didn’t matter which side of the political aisle, just about everyone seemed to feel similarly and share in a larger sense of unease.
